If you're having playback issues when you try to watch Niconico on your web browser, follow the troubleshooting steps below to resolve the issue.
 

I'm getting a black screen

If you have any browser extensions installed, they may occasionally cause playback issues.(e.g., Ad blockers) Try disabling them and reopen the browser. The security software may be blocking your access to Niconico. Check the security software settings on your computer to make sure you have access to Niconico.
 

I'm getting a white screen

Internet Explorer11 shows white screen every once in a while. Follow the troubleshooting steps below to resolve the issue.

  1. Go to the watch page of the video with Internet Explorer 11
  2. While you are accessing the site, copy the following text and paste it on the address bar of the browser.

I'm getting an error message saying ”Failed to retrieve comments” and having a playback issue

If you have any internet security softwares set up to block harmful websites, you may occasionally get an error message saying "Failed to retrieve comments" and you may not be able to play the video. Please check the security software settings on your computer.

To disable website block, rule out following domains on the settings.
  • www.nicovideo.jp
  • nmsg.nicovideo.jp
  • flapi.nicovideo.jp
  • api.dmc.nico
  • nicovideo.cdn.nimg.jp
Also, if the wildcard can be used, please make sure to rule out following domains as well.*.nicovideo.jp *.dmc.nico
 

I was forced to log out

If you were forced to log out from your account, it could be due to the following reasons:
  • The login information was not retained by your browser
    If for some reason you were forced to log out, your login information was modified or removed from the browser. We recommend to clear your login information first and reboot the browser.
    Clear your browser's cache and cookies and try logging in to Niconico again.

  • You’re using a different network connection or device to login.
    Sometimes you are forced to log out when you try to log in with a different network connection or device.If there’s a sign that says "log in" on the top of the page please try to log in again.

If you have tried all the troubleshooting steps but the issue still persists, please check Niconico Info to see if the issue has been previously reported.

If there were no bug/technical issues reported but you need further assistance, please contact support.
